When we travel, I often look for garden inspirations. On one of our trips to Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina, I took a few photos of an arbor room in the gardens. Using this as an inspiration, you can either purchase or build an arbor. Within a few years, a sense of enclosure can be created. Two garden benches serve as seating for conversation, but you can easily create an intimate dining spot using a bistro table and chairs. Pea gravel or mulch can be used for the garden room floor while climbing roses or vines can be used to create a ceiling. Evergreen shrubs and tall ornamental grasses can provide privacy for the walls, while perennials and annuals provide blooms, fragrance and punches of color.
